2024-2025 Coaching Staff

Our elite level teams are our highest level. They have a rigorous travel schedule and are expected to continue playing through the middle of June.

Our National teams are our power level teams. They will also have a rigorous travel schedule but will have a shorter season ending in early May.

Our Regional level teams are our club level teams. They will travel less and will play more in-state tournaments. Their season ends in early May.

Head Coach - 12 Regional/National

My name is Erin Sutton. I'm so excited to be back coaching at Lake Murray. I have been playing volleyball for 20 years and coaching for 13.

When I became too old to play juniors, I went straight into coaching as an assistant for a 14U team and have been coaching ever since. In my seasons coaching I have tried to take a "person first, athlete second" approach to coaching. I love to develop the girls I coach as players but get so much more satisfaction from watching them grow as young women. I am constantly looking for areas where I can improve my coaching abilities and approach.

I look forward to seeing the players I work with this year mature into great players and even better people!

Assistant Coach - 12 Regional/National

My name is Sydney Coleman, and I am so excited to begin my fourth season coaching with LMVC!

I have played volleyball for ten years as a setter, spending my last two club seasons with Lake Murray. I enjoyed every minute of my time as a competitive player, and I have found my true passion coaching the game I love so dearly.

Aside from LMVC, I am the Head JV Volleyball coach at Ben Lippen School, and I am entering my Senior year at USC studying public relations. I could not be more excited to be coaching the 12U team this year!

Head Coach - 15 Elite

I played Basketball all through school in PA. Once I graduated college in 1984 I moved to South Carolina. I had a friend that played outdoor volleyball and he showed me how to play and I have been playing ever since. I played indoor and outdoor and loved the sport.

Once my daughter became old enough to play (and wanted to), I got her into Club Volleyball. We found Lake Murray early and became Board Members back in 2008. Once my daughter graduated High School I started coaching.

I was the Varsity coach at Irmo High school for the 2016-2018 seasons. I started coaching for the Providence Athletic Club (PAC) in 2019 and became the Volleyball Director for the 2020 season, taking the Varsity team to win the NACA Division 4 National title in 2021 and placing 3rd after moving up to Division 3 in 2022 and had a 2nd place finish in 2023.

I love coaching volleyball and watching the players progress during the season not only in their volleyball skills but as individuals. I try to teach each of my players the love of the sport but also how to be a good teammate and competitor.

Assistant Coach - 15 Elite

I grew up in a small town south of Pittsburgh, PA. I played club softball as my sport from age 8 through adulthood. Once I moved to South Carolina in 1988 I was introduced to competitive volleyball and I was hooked. I got involved in any way I could with leagues, tournaments (indoor/outdoor) and became one of the original members of Columbia Volleyball Club.

We found Lake Murray when our daughter turned 14 and started playing for the club. I became a Board Member back in 2008 and currently serve as the Marketing Director.

I started coaching 14U with Lake Murray Volleyball Club once my daughter went off to college. Over the years I have been assistant coaching various age groups .

I was the Assistant Varsity coach at Irmo High school for the 2016-2018 seasons. I started coaching for the Providence Athletic Club (PAC) in 2022 as Head Coach for Middle School.

I love watching the players find a love for the game as I did. I want to pass on my knowledge and experience to help them succeed in this great sport.

Head Coach - 16 Elite

I am looking forward to coaching the 16 Elite team for the 2024-25 season!

I am the Director of LMVC and also the Recruiting Coordinator. I started playing volleyball when I was 14 and have been playing ever since. I played 4 years in high school and 3 years in college as a middle hitter. I then played for 12 years on an adult women‘s USAV team. I have played outdoor doubles since I moved here in 1992. My coaching career began at Brooklyn Cayce as the JV coach in 1995. I have coached at Dutch Fork HS, Glen Forest School, Hammond and PAC (home school). I am entering my fourth season as the program director and varsity head volleyball coach at Ben Lippen School as well. I am also heavily involved in running outdoor tournaments. I have also recently been voted Chairman of the Board for the Palmetto Volleyball Association (PVA) and I am serving as the region Beach/Outdoor Coordinator as well.

Volleyball is my passion and I want to share that passion with as many players as possible. It has been a huge positive in my life and can be used to teach many life lessons. My goal as a coach is to not only create amazing volleyball players that have a long future in the sport and help them reach their goals to play at the next level, but to also help each player become a strong and independent young adult capable of anything that they put their minds to!

Assistant Coach - 16 Elite

I am originally from Sycamore, IL where my introduction to the sport began. Born into a family of volleyball playing parents, my exposure to the activities of the court and importance of teamwork, started at a very early age. My mother played volleyball for Illinois Wesleyan, while my father participated in a club volleyball program at Northern Illinois University. I began participating in camps at the age of 8 and played all 6 years with my school team as a setter. During the off-season, I played club volleyball for 2 seasons with Sky High Volleyball Club and 3 seasons with Club Fusion as a libero/defensive specialist/setter.

In 2002, an athletic scholarship brought me to South Carolina where I played 4 years at Lander University. I am proud to now call the Columbia area home and am happy to be a part of the LMVC family for the eighth year. I continue to play both indoor and outdoor volleyball, and look forward to “passing” on my love of the game. I am excited to be coaching for the 16U team this year!

Assistant Coach 16 Elite

I started playing volleyball in 6th grade and haven’t been able to give it up since. I played club for 4 years at South Bay Volleyball Club, 2 years of Varsity at Torrance High School as the starting setter, and 2 years at El Camino College in California.

I started coaching in 2002 with Palos Verdes Volleyball Club for 4 years, Triumph volleyball Club for 3 years. I was also the JV coach and Varsity Assistant for Morningside High School (boys and girls).

I moved to South Carolina in 2013 and began with Lake Murray in 2014. I had to take a few years off from coaching due to family schedules and work commitments, I am so excited to be back coaching with Lake Murray. Coaching to me is so much more than teaching these athletes how to play the game of volleyball but helping them to grow into amazing young adults on and off the court. Volleyball has been such a huge part of my life; I am so thankful to be able to share my love and passion for the game through coaching. Outside of coaching and volleyball, I spend my weekends and weeknights at the baseball field. I have 2 boys (Andrew 11, Austin 8) who both play travel baseball, I love spending time with them watching them do what they love.

Head Coach - LMVC Boys

My name is Xzavian Slaughter. I’ve been playing volleyball for a little over four years now, and I’ve grown to love the sport. In my senior year of college, I joined the Men's Club Team to try out competitive play and have since enjoyed interacting with the sport. I finished the year playing on the Club Indoor Team, joined the Club Beach Team, and branched into grass volleyball to gain more competitive experience and grow as a player. Now I still play indoor pickup when I can and play grass volleyball at a AA/Open level.

This is now my second season with Lake Murray, but I’m also involved with Columbia Club Volleyball and the VolleyBums in both running local tournaments and larger events such as The Clash and The Crown. My ultimate goal is to help South Carolina volleyball grow while becoming the best player & coach I can be..
